Following God's Ways
61
Psalm 18:30
As we read through God's Word, we may have wondered why God asked various individuals to do what He asked. In our minds some of His strategies seem strange. One example might be Joshua's battle at Jericho. How many military leaders would choose to march around a city and then blow trumpets? Perhaps you may have encountered or even questioned something God had asked you to do and thought, "Is this really God? This makes no sense."
However, God's Word states His way is perfect. Every account which every individual encountered in His Word is proof of His perfection. That is an attribute of His character. Therefore, when God speaks to us and it doesn't necessarily make sense in our mind, we should not question or try to reason it out but just do it because we trust Him. He can be trusted in regards to our safety as well as our salvation.
It is further to our advantage to have an understanding that God's Word is pure (flawless). The Amplified Bible (in Psalm 18:30) says it is tested and tried. "The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times." (Psalm 12:6 HCSB) Therefore there is nothing regarding His words which carry with them anything harmful or deceitful. His conduct is like His nature which is absolutely pure.
Abraham is an example who lived by God's word as pure and perfect. When God told him to go and sacrifice his son, we don't read that Abraham questioned God by saying, "This makes no sense." The Scriptures say, "Early the NEXT MORNING Abraham got up and saddled his donkey." (Genesis 22:1 NIV) Many times what doesn't make sense is merely a test God brings along in regards to our obedience and faith in His perfect way.
The one who follows God's instruction, which "rises early in the morning and sets out," the promise is that God will be a shield, a protection for all who take their refuge in Him. "All the Lord's ways (show) faithful love and truth to those who keep His covenant and decrees." (Psalm 25:10 HCSB) No matter if it doesn't make sense, God is able and will accomplish His purposes in any and every situation. That's why He is God!

It is a wonderful thing to see that Abraham had such a relationship with God that He could tell Isaac with assurance that their Heavenly Father would provide a sacrifice, and then to see from our perspective on this end of history that God has kept His promise to mankind and given the ultimate, perfect, and victorious sacrifice of His Son's birth, death, and resurrection. Praise His Name!
As I read this hub I was reminded of how perfectly Scripture confirms itself to those who come to God according to His Word--that God's Word is His own best commentary to the humble and contrite heart. We have much to be thankful for in the gift of His Word!
And this is the work of faith; amen!! Simply keeping the Law is not of faith (Gal 3:12), and if not of faith, then we know it's by obedience (which is better than sacrifice - 1 Sam 15:22) to His promptings and leading that are the works of faith! Faith without works is dead (Jam 2:26)...and this is what it means; amen!!
I have Jerichos to claim. Thanks for the push forward.

His daughter, Beautiful, so true and inspirational! You are truly our Father's daughter!
As you well stated: "The one who follows God's instruction, which "rises early in the morning and sets out," the promise is that God will be a shield, a protection for all who take their refuge in Him. "All the Lord's ways (show) faithful love and truth to those who keep His covenant and decrees..." Amen! & AMEN!! WONDERFUL!!! To GOD Be The GLORY!
Thank you for sharing, in HIS Love, Joy, Peace & Blessings!
Amen His Words are flawless and can be trusted. Have you ever heard Beth Moore's airport story? if not google it. It really goes along with this hub and is a beautiful story of obedience that could have so easily an opportunity missed because of the strangeness of God's request of her.
Wonderful hub

If God's protection was entered into a universal physics equation, the symbol that represents that value would a constant. It would not be a variable, HD.
